Trip Protection Insurance
Protect the money you've already spent on the trip
Cancellation, interruption, and lost-bag coverage so a missed flight or family emergency doesn't cost you the whole trip.

Trip protection insurance reimburses you for prepaid, non-refundable trip costs if you have to cancel or cut a trip short for a covered reason — illness, family emergency, severe weather, and more. If you've put down deposits on flights, hotels, or tours, this coverage protects that money. This page covers what's included, how Cancel For Any Reason works, and how to file a claim.

What trip protection insurance covers
- Trip cancellation for covered reasons
- Trip interruption (cutting the trip short)
- Lost or delayed baggage
- Travel-delay reimbursement (meals, lodging)
- Optional Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) rider
What's not covered
- Cancellations for reasons not on the covered-list (unless you add CFAR)

Frequently asked questions
What is covered under trip protection insurance?
Trip cancellation and interruption for covered reasons (illness, family emergency, severe weather, jury duty, and more), plus lost or delayed baggage and travel-delay expenses. Read the plan brochure for the exact covered-reasons list.
Can I get coverage for pre-existing medical conditions?
Some plans waive the pre-existing exclusion if you buy within 14 days of your first trip deposit. If a managed condition could affect your trip, buy early to qualify.
How does Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) work?
CFAR is an optional rider that lets you cancel for any reason at all — change of mind, fear, anything — and recover up to 75% of your trip cost. You usually have to buy CFAR within 14–21 days of your first deposit and cancel at least 48 hours before departure.
How do I file a claim?
Call or email the claims center, submit documentation of the canceled-trip costs (receipts, cancellation confirmations), and the insurer reimburses you directly. Most claims process within 14–30 days.
